About Us

My work life had been making me miserable. It was increasingly difficult to stop the “what if” scenarios that my mind insisted on cooking up. Bookbinding started as a way to channel the mind’s creative energy away from habitual rumination. Soon after embarking on this journey of creating notebooks, I started appreciating it as a direct way for me to be useful to people in the community.

Something tangible I made with my hands, without using a computer, could benefit real people, directly. No platforms, no corporations, no apps, no subscriptions. This was a stark contrast to my day-job, where I was separated by many layers from the people I was supposed to help. I gained a new appreciation for what it meant to be connected to a community; one that liked to take time away from a screen, preferred the sounds of a nib scribbling against paper rather than the clacking of a keyboard, one that understood the value of slowing down, of doing something for oneself - for joy, not obligation.

This value system is enmeshed in every notebook I’m inspired to make. I don’t have productivity expectations to meet or sales targets to hit when I am engaged in this craft. When my partner and I use these notebooks, we experience the joy of using something unique, made expressly for us.

We love using our fountain pens to write in our notebooks, we enjoy slowing down, and letting the process of writing heal us, one pen-stroke at a time. I can say a lot about why writing with a pen in a notebook is so wonderful, but I earnestly hope that you will find out for yourself.
